Joan Brady, Social Media Manager of Hattiesburg-Laurel, Mississippi, Chapter #6116 sent in a summary of their chapter’s activities:
August 17 was the monthly social at Hattiesburg-Laurel, and the theme was Elvis Night!
The Chapter welcomed eight new members this year and presented those in attendance at the dance with “New Member Survival Kits”, a humorous reminder to do whatever you have to do to keep dancing.
Chapter Officer Michael Forster announced a “Member Appreciation Sweepstakes” with $100 cash to be awarded in a random drawing at the Chapter’s November social. All current chapter members are eligible. He also discussed an upcoming event that several chapter members will be participating in – the sixth annual Dancing on the Coast Showcase. Although it is not a USA Dance event, they noted it is one of the larger social events in the area. This showcase is usually well attended by 200-plus guests and includes Pro/Am exhibitions by dancers from Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.
