USA Dance is thrilled to announce that a brand-new chapter is preparing to launch in New Port Richey, Florida—a vibrant coastal community ready to welcome social dancers of all backgrounds. With enthusiasm building and local support growing, the New Port Richey group is kicking off its journey with a grand opening dance scheduled for Saturday, May 3.
The effort is being led by a passionate group of volunteers who saw a need for more organized ballroom and social dance opportunities in the area. Located just north of the Tampa Bay region, New Port Richey has long been home to dancers and studios, but until now, it lacked a local USA Dance chapter to bring everyone together under one welcoming banner.
“Our goal is to create a place where people of all ages and skill levels can connect through dance,” said USA Dance Member Cheryl McDonald. “Whether you’re brand new or a seasoned social dancer, we want you to feel at home on the floor.”
May 3 Kickoff Dance Details:
Time: 7:00 – 10:00 PM
Location: Stardust Ballroom, Pasco Square, 7135 SR 54, New Port Richey, Florida
Admission: Open to the public, Free to Everyone
Light refreshments will be served
The team is working closely with USA Dance’s District 9 Director and Central Office to follow corporate chapter development guidelines. Their plan is to operate as a “chapter in formation” while building membership and holding regular events. Once the group reaches 25 members, they’ll be eligible to apply for full certification as an independent chapter.
The launch in New Port Richey reflects USA Dance’s mission to grow dance communities across the country, especially in areas where interest is high but opportunities have been limited.
“We are so excited to welcome New Port Richey into the USA Dance family,” said Janet Martin. “This is what grassroots community building looks like—people coming together, volunteering their time, and creating something joyful and inclusive.”
Dancers from surrounding chapters are encouraged to attend the May 3 kickoff event to show their support, meet new friends, and help energize the launch of what promises to be a vibrant addition to the USA Dance family.
Stay tuned for more updates as New Port Richey’s dance journey unfolds. If you’re in the area, mark your calendar for May 3. It’s going to be a night to remember!
