American Dancer received a lot of national and international interest in the October cover couple – Dylan Chi and Isabella Moudry. We caught up with this USA Dance Junior II/Youth couple to learn more about them.

AD: Tell us a little about yourself and your partnership.
D&I: We were both born in the United States, but Dylan grew up in Taiwan while Lisa (Isabella) stayed in the United States. When we first started dancing together, it was very challenging because we didn’t know each other well. However, we both worked hard, and step by step, we began to connect and improve as a team.

AD: We know you are listed as living in San Jose, California. Who is your coach and what do they emphasize?
D&I: Under the guidance of our amazing coach, Ruslan Vysotskyi, we learned that dance is not just about movement—it’s also about expressing emotion and showing your personal style. He taught us how to dance with deeper emotion and connection.

AD: You are excellent 10-Dancers – Standard and Latin. However, your passion absolutely flies in your Latin. What is your favorite dance and why?
D&I: Our favorite dance is the Samba because it is both powerful and beautiful. It allows us to express our feelings and emotions fully.

AD: Do you have a crowning achievement?
D&I: One of our proudest moments was getting second place at the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) Moldova Open. This achievement means so much to us. It’s not just a title—it represents years of dedication, hard work, and practice. (The couple represented the United States and placed 2 of 25 couples in Junior II Latin at this event on October 12, 2025! They were the only United States couple dancing in this highly competitive event.)

AD: You are so much fun to watch and obviously love what you are doing. To what do you owe the success of your partnership?
D&I: What strengthens our partnership the most is our shared passion for dance. It keeps us moving forward. Because of our passion, we never give up, and we continue to improve together.
AD: Your photo by Eamonn Knights on the cover of American Dancer is amazing! There is so much passion in it, plus everything is perfect from your toes to your fingertips. Eamonn said it was “spiritual.” Were you surprised to see it?
D&I: We are so grateful for the opportunity to be on the cover of American Dancer and to share our story with the dance community. We hope to create many more incredible moments and sincerely thank everyone who has supported us.
