In the vibrant world of social ballroom dancing, one of the most powerful tools we have is connection. Eric Nihill, Assistant District Director for USA Dance District 9 – Florida, is putting that principle into action by creating a simple but impactful way to build bridges between chapters: a traveling flyer table.
At dances across Florida, Eric has been setting up a table filled with flyers and promotional materials from various USA Dance chapters. These flyers include upcoming dance schedules, special events, workshops, and more. Whether you’re attending a social in Tampa, a tea dance in Sarasota, or a weekend event in Daytona, you may now find information about what’s happening in other parts of the state—thanks to Eric’s effort.
This initiative is more than just an information station—it’s a symbol of what can happen when we work together. By helping chapters promote each other’s events, Eric is encouraging dancers to travel, explore, and support more local chapters. The result? Better attendance, more energy on the dance floor, and a stronger, more connected Florida dance community.
“People want to dance,” Eric says. “They just need to know where and when. This flyer table is a way to make sure they do.”
His idea has been well received by both organizers and dancers. For smaller or newer chapters, it offers much-needed visibility. For more established chapters, it’s a chance to welcome new faces and expand their reach. And for dancers, it opens the door to more music, more movement, and more friendships.
Eric’s efforts remind us that we don’t have to go it alone. As members of USA Dance, we are part of a statewide—and nationwide—network of people who share a passion for ballroom. By supporting each other, we all rise.
Let’s keep building together—one dance at a time.
