USA Dance is proud to announce Greater Daytona Chapter #6026 as the 2024 Chapter of the Year, an honor that recognizes the chapter’s exceptional achievements, community outreach, and dedication to promoting ballroom dance throughout Volusia County and beyond. Under the leadership of Chapter President Monica Wiech, the Greater Daytona Chapter has demonstrated what it truly means to inspire, connect, and uplift a community through dance.

A Year of Remarkable Growth

In 2024, the Greater Daytona Chapter expanded its membership from 76 to 96 members, a milestone that reflects the chapter’s welcoming atmosphere and commitment to building a vibrant, inclusive dance community. This growth is the result of consistent outreach, quality programming, and the sense of belonging the chapter fosters among both longtime dancers and newcomers.

Community Engagement Through Outreach and Education

One of the chapter’s strongest contributions lies in its dedication to sharing ballroom dance beyond its own membership. Each week, experienced chapter instructors teach a public lesson at the Daytona Beach Shores Community Center, inviting community members to learn new skills, meet new friends, and discover the joy of dancing.

Equally impactful is the chapter’s monthly outreach to Assisted Living and Rehabilitation Centers, where members bring music, movement, and companionship to residents. These visits brighten spirits, encourage social engagement, and showcase how dance can improve emotional and physical well-being at any age.

Hosting Premier Events for District 9

The Greater Daytona Chapter continues to lead the way in offering high-quality dance experiences for dancers across Florida. The chapter proudly hosts the Florida Dance Spree, now in its 28th year—a cherished annual tradition that brings together District 9 chapters for workshops, social dancing, and spirited team matches. This event continues to grow in popularity and serves as a model of excellence for chapter-led programming.

As part of National Ballroom Dance Week, the chapter also hosts the celebrated Mall Ball at Volusia Mall. By bringing ballroom into a public space, the event offers demonstrations, social dancing, and community participation—engaging hundreds of spectators and introducing many new faces to the beauty and accessibility of ballroom dance.

Monthly Dances and Free Lessons

Greater Daytona Chapter #6026 offers a monthly social dance, each one featuring a free lesson designed to welcome beginners while providing seasoned dancers with fresh inspiration. These events provide a fun, friendly, and supportive environment where dancers of all levels can connect and grow.

Strengthening the Community Through Cultural Support

The chapter is honored to receive funding through the Volusia County Community Cultural Grant Program, allowing them to expand lessons and host special events for the public. This support strengthens outreach efforts and increases access to ballroom dance, helping the chapter fulfill its mission of enriching community life through movement and music.
