Dancing in the Water!

Across cultural lines, sightings of mermaid-like aquatic creatures have been made throughout time and all over the world. After watching the live-action remake of a Disney Classic, “The Little Mermaid”, I rediscovered my curiosity about mermaids. I wanted to know what it would feel and look like to be half human and half fish.

Chris and Michelle Lee Price.

I met Michelle Lee Price on the dance floor of “Let’s Dance with Me”. Michelle, the owner of Aqua Texture Design, entrepreneur of Tritone Triple Barre franchise, a competitive ballroom dancer, and a single mother, is also a gorgeous, magical, mythical mermaid. Representing the beautiful tension between strength and vulnerability, she is unafraid of her own power and moves confidently toward accomplishing her dreams. Ten years ago, after answering an ad on Facebook for a mermaid tail and fin, Michelle tried swimming in the ocean like a mermaid. Six years ago, Michelle, whose stage name is MerShell, decided to make her Merquatics dream come true.

Michelle loves to empower women. She helps them as entrepreneurs, corporate team members, and clients. The mermaid experience is uplifting and hypnotic and gives you a feeling of being transformed and empowered. It can allow one to amplify the voice of the ocean to help conservation efforts and become a voice for the marine life that cannot speak. It unlocks your inner child, gives you a sense of community, and helps to bring out your creative artistic talents.

“Merquatics was a magical dance experience for me.”

In celebration of one of my birthdays, I took the mermaid class with Michelle at our community pool. Wearing my beautiful turquoise mono fin and tail, we started on the side of the pool so I could get acquainted with having my legs together in a tail. In the water, I floated on the surface and rolled front to back. Next, putting my arms straight ahead on a noodle, I rolled my body moving forward on both the upstroke and downstroke, undulating like a dolphin above water. Holding my breath, I went underwater. I became strong. I was in the moment and became more aware of my breath. My body was relaxed, and my mind was quiet. It felt good. It was a great core exercise. I was dancing underwater! Human bones are 22% water, muscles 76% water, blood 83% water, lungs 90% water, and our brain is 95% water. It‘s no wonder that humans feel more peaceful seeing, hearing, tasting, and being in the water. Merquatics was a magical dance experience for me.

At Merquatics.com, you can view Michelle’s parties, swimming, and craft socials. At children’s craft socials, Michelle will recite the magical stories about mermaids and instruct how to make ocean bracelets. Each child gets to color and design their own unique mermaid tail. Many children have commented, “This is so fun, can you come home with me?” You can also look and feel like a real mermaid as I did, by taking swim classes that include wearing a mono fin and mermaid tail. Classes include sculpting and stretching mermaid style with the Barre Aqua and beach Barre classes. As a mermaid, you can dance on land or in the water, or simply dress up and have a photo taken.

Take the plunge and try a new form of dance! Try Merquatics and become a magical mythical mermaid like MerShell. I tried it and loved it!
