Ballroom Athletes, you’ve been asking about another Regional.  Here’s the answer!

The USA Dance Midwest Regional DanceSport Championships have been sanctioned and placed on the official competition calendar. The event will be held from October 19 to 20, 2024, at the in Rosemont, Illinois, near Chicago.

Midwest Regional DanceSport Championships – Regional: October 18-20

New Organizers Shawn Fisher and Annie Topham welcome the DanceSport family and invite all to “embark on a journey filled with passion and grace.”

The competition venue, the Westin Marriott O’Hare, is a 4-star, 525-room hotel in Rosemont Illinois, near Chicago O’Hare Airport.  The hotel features plenty of dining opportunities, including a beautiful buffet breakfast.  It also has 24-hour room service, a bar/lounge, a 24-hour business center, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, free WiFi, dry cleaning/laundry services, and complimentary roundtrip shuttle service during limited hours.

Most importantly, the venue boasts a huge and luxurious ballroom on the lobby level, which happens to be conveniently across from the Starbucks!  Does it get any better?

As for Chicago, there is always something to do in this city.  It is a city of festivals, art, casinos, and entertainment.  The Westin is conveniently located within a 15-minute walk of the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center and Rivers Casino, 0.9 miles from Rosemont Theatre, and 1.2 miles from Parkway Bank Entertainment District.  But then again, most of the dancers will be focusing on the activities inside.

The competition is open to all levels, with prices set accordingly.  Events include Amateur (all ages), Professional, Pro-Am, Teacher-Student, and Collegiate.  The organizers are currently working to get their entry form online through O2CM, so stay tuned.

The tentative schedule shows workshops starting at noon on Friday, October 18, with the competition beginning Friday evening at 7 p.m.  These events will then run through the morning of Sunday, October 20, ending with additional workshops on Sunday afternoon.  Competitor registration will include a Saturday and Sunday breakfast buffet, five events, and entrance into all sessions.

DanceSport Athletes, you asked, and it’s all here.  Sign up early and help make this event successful.  Along with athletes and spectators, Shawn and Annie are looking for sponsors, vendors, and advertisers, to “step into the world of ballroom excellence.”

There’s a lot going on and even more yet to come.  Keep an eye on the competition’s website.
