Dear Dancers,

USA Dance is thrilled to invite you to participate in the first annual #SmoothOrLoseChallenge, an exciting social media dance challenge where you can showcase your skills, creativity, and fun!

Two different contests and two ways to win:

First Contest:

Dance with or without a partner while balancing something on your head! It can be any style of partner dance—Waltz, Swing, Salsa, Cha Cha, you name it.  The goal?  Stay smooth, and keep that item steady!

How to Enter:

  1. Record a 10-second video of your solo or partner dance while balancing something on your head. (Solo and partner categories will be judged separately.)
  2. Share the video on social media, Facebook, or Instagram, by March 1, 2025, using #SmoothOrLoseChallenge2025 and #BallroomBalanceChallenge2025.

Three Ways to Win:

  • Skill: Precision, technique, and smoothness.
  • Most Original: Unique moves, props, or unexpected twists.
  • Most Fun: Pure joy, laughter, and entertainment value.

The winning videos will be displayed on the Jumbotron at the USA Dance Nationals—a fantastic way to celebrate your talent and spirit with the entire community!

Second Contest:

Social Chapters and College Clubs—rally your members to participate!  The group with the most entries in the Chapter Division and College Division will receive special awards and recognition.

Submissions:

For submission, you must use a hashtag followed by your chapter or team name plus smoothorlosechallenge2025 or Ballroombalancechallenge2025:

  • #chapternameballroombalancechallenge2025
    • #Pittsburghballroombalancechallenge2025
  • #schoolnameballroombalancechallenge2025
    • #CarnegieMellonballroombalancechallenge2025

Get ready to show off your moves, test your balance, and challenge yourself.  Share this with all your dance friends, and join us in making the first annual #SmoothOrLoseChallenge unforgettable!
