Volunteers Needed for Nationals

Learn how to volunteer in St. Louis!

The 2023 USA Dance National Ballroom DanceSport Championships will be held March 17-19, 2023, at the Hyatt Regency at the Arch in St. Louis, Missouri. The Nationals Committee is soliciting volunteers to help with the event. Why become a volunteer for this event?

  • You will be part of a prestigious national dance event and have the opportunity to see incredible dancing by the competitors.
  • Part-Time Volunteers (those who work three or more hours in a session) get free admission to that session.
  • Full-Time Volunteers (those who work eight or more hours in a day and agree to be available to do any job as needed, when asked) get admission to the ballroom for the day and meal vouchers of $75 per day.
  • If you are a Full-Time Volunteer for the entire weekend, you also receive an invitation to the Celebration Party on Saturday Evening.
  • All Volunteers have free admission to the Friday Social Dance from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
  • Volunteers who work four or more hours during the weekend can buy workshop tickets (excluding the Emanuel Valeri Standard workshop) at the discounted rate of $10 per workshop.
  • You can relax between shifts in the dedicated Volunteer Room, which is stocked with drinks and snacks.
  • All Volunteers receive the undying gratitude of the entire Nationals Team!

 

Volunteer Positions Available:

  • Anti-Doping Chaperones: Escort selected athletes (one chaperone per competitor) from the ballroom to the drug testing suite for drug testing (several at the end of each evening session depending on the number of individuals tested)
  • Main Doors Monitor: Control entry to the ballroom (one per shift, per session)
  • Competitors Door Monitor: Allow only competitors to enter the ballroom (one per shift, per session)
  • Officials Door Monitor: Allow only officials to enter through this door (one per shift, per session)
  • VIP Area Monitor: Control access to the VIP area allowing only people with the correct credentials to enter (one per shift, evening sessions only)
  • Workshop Monitor: Control access to the Workshops held throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday (one per Workshop)
  • Officials’ Meals Monitor: Control access to the Officials’ Meals area ensuring only those with appropriate credentials are admitted
  • Floor monitors: Manage spectators and competitors to ensure that they comply with the rules while in the ballroom (four per shift, per session)
  • Registration: Assist with competitor Check-In (two on Thursday 4-10 p.m.; two on Friday and Saturday mornings, one needed at other times)
  • Ticket Sales: Help with ticket sales (two per shift, per session)
  • Deck Area: Assist Deck Captain in properly lining up competitors (one/two per shift, per session)
