Dancers help Ohio residents affected by train derailment

American Dancer caught wind that the USA Dance Youngstown-Warren, Ohio, Chapter #2015 held a Water Drive at the Historic Avon Oaks Ballroom, in Girard Ohio.  The drive, initiated by Chapter President Susan Ryan, was held in conjunction with the Chapter’s February 19 Social Dance and featured Tango lessons and general dancing.

The drive was highly successful and very much needed.  “The entire board and members all contributed!” said Susan.  “Mark Asher was a key member.”  The Chapter collected/purchased and delivered 4,240 16.9-ounce bottles of water to the residents of East Palestine, Ohio.  Asher’s employer, Flynn’s Power GM, donated the truck for the drive.

East Palestine, 25 miles south of Youngstown, Ohio, is the site where a freight train carrying a toxic chemical derailed on February 3.  This incident caused potentially damaging health consequences to residents.

American Dancer salutes the dancers of the USA Dance Youngstown-Warren, Ohio, Chapter #2015!  Congratulations on a job well done!
