American Dancer received the latest update from the Daphna Locker and the rest of the hard-working MAC team.
The MAC will be held January 12-14 at the Newark Liberty International Airport Marriott in Newark, New Jersey. This is the Region VI qualifying event for USA Dance Nationals and will also host World Dance Organization (WDO) World Championship events. Here are the latest announcements:
1. We will be starting at 1:30PM on Friday afternoon, not 2:00PM like originally thought.
2. I am currently working on the schedule for the weekend. It is still in flux so if you see a specific time, don’t take that time to the bank, it will probably change as the weekend progresses.
3. Don’t forget that there is a USAD Training Camp on Monday following the MAC. There will be group classes, rounds, and privates taking place during the camp. Privates are booking up fast, so don’t delay with signing up for them. The camp will help you qualify towards getting sent to World Championships and to receive a stipend from USA Dance. If you are a college couple and interested in attending, please contact me at info@macnyusadance.org.
4. If you have opened an O2CM account, but haven’t yet entered your events, please do so immediately. I will be deleting all empty accounts Sunday night.
5. There are a few people whose WDO membership has expired, please make sure that you check and renew those memberships today.
6. If, when you get to the MAC, you do not have your membership number, and we are signing you up on site, you will be charged an extra $10.00/membership as an administrative charge. This administrative charge will go to help fund the MAC and potential scholarships for next year.
7. If you have a TBA next to your partner’s name, please complete your registration. If the TBA remains, I will be deleting the account on Sunday night.
8. If you still owe money, please pay up. I will be adding the $25.00 late/late/late fee Sunday night.
9. Don’t forget to renew your USA Dance memberships. This can be done by going to https://usadance.org/page/MemberPage and then clicking on the renew membership button at the bottom of the page. If you are registered for a WDO World Championship event, please make sure to apply for WDO membership by going to https://cdn.ymaws.com/usadance.org/resource/resmgr/membership/documents/membersapplication-wdo.pdf and completing that form. Once the form is completed, please make sure to email it to WDOmembership@usadance.org and if you’d like me to follow up on it, also email me a copy: info@macnyusadance.org.
10. The after MAC ‘Training Camp’ will help you qualify for becoming a USA Dance World Team member. Starting in 2024, to represent USA Dance and receive a stipend, you will need to attend a Training Camp. Why not get it over with at the beginning of the year and then be able to relax for the rest of the year. Plus, the coaches at the camp will be amazing and gaining some of their knowledge will be invaluable. Sign up for the camp by registering through your O2CM account and for private lessons by going on the website (macnyusadance.org) and filling out the private lesson form under the Camp tab. You can pay for the private lessons via your MAC O2CM registration page.
11. We have arranged with the hotel to have extended hours of food service, and to have a sitting/eating area closer to the ballroom. You requested that in last year’s after-MAC survey, and we listened. Please let us know in this year’s survey, how it worked out.
